In 2025, wedding photography is shifting

Couples are no longer looking for rigidly posed portraits or perfectly arranged group shots. They want moments. They want truth. They want a photographer who doesn’t interrupt the magic, but moves quietly through it — someone who notices a father’s silent tears or a nervous smile exchanged before the vows. That’s where I come in.

At Strus Photo, I’ve built my approach around photojournalistic storytelling — one that respects the atmosphere of your day and captures it with honesty. Based in Atlanta, GA, and serving Alpharetta, Cumming, Suwanee, Buford, and Sugar Hill, I focus on creating images that feel real, not staged..

No Clock Watching, Just Good Timing

When you hire me, you’re not hiring someone who’s checking their watch every hour. My full-day coverage doesn’t stop if we run over by 30 or 60 minutes. I’d rather stay a little longer than make you feel rushed. I’ve seen it time and again — when a couple is relaxed, the photos follow naturally. True moments don’t happen on a schedule.

Directing Without Distracting

Although my style leans heavily on candid, emotional storytelling, I know when to step in. Years of experience — including time in the U.S. Army — taught me how to lead a crowd, organize group shots efficiently, and give confident direction without creating pressure. (But if someone refuses to cooperate, I can go full military mode — and trust me, a group doing push-ups in formalwear would make for a truly unforgettable photo.)😁

Whether it’s helping you find your best angle or making sure your dress falls just right, I’m there — not to control the moment, but to elevate it.

Vintage-Inspired, Never Overdone

When the setting allows, I love weaving in subtle vintage elements. A brick wall, a velvet chair, an old chapel window — these small details bring timelessness into the story. I don’t rely on heavy filters. I trust in lighting, texture, and atmosphere. And yes, I always carry a film camera with me. While it’s not a primary tool, if I see a moment that begs to be captured on 35mm film, I’ll take it.

Later, as a small surprise, you may receive a handcrafted film print — a tangible memory that lives beyond the screen.

One Photographer. One Story. Your Day

I usually work solo. It keeps my presence light and my focus sharp. If you request a second photographer, I can bring a trusted partner — but many of my couples prefer the intimacy and simplicity of a one-person team. I coordinate the event quietly, observe attentively, and make sure nothing important slips away unnoticed.

Your Wedding, Your Way — Without the Fuss

If you’re planning a wedding in Atlanta or the surrounding Georgia areas, and you care more about feeling something than staging something, let’s talk. Whether it’s a backyard wedding in Suwanee, an elegant ceremony in Alpharetta, or a lively party in Buford, I’ll be there — not as a vendor, but as someone who gets it.

You’re not just hiring a photographer. You’re inviting a storyteller into one of the most important days of your life. At Strus Photo, I take that seriously.
